Large Truck Collisions

Topic: Large Truck Collisions

Semi-Trucks and other large trucks have caused some of the most devastating collisions in Colorado based on the careless and sometimes reckless conduct of the semi-truck drivers and their employers.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration reported that during 2004 in Colorado, there were 69 fatalities and 804 reported injuries from collisions involving semi-trucks or large trucks.

The employers are often negligent in failing to conduct background checks, obtain driving records, criminal records, or other public records regarding their drivers. Many times, employers do not even follow their own procedures and policies. The companies who hire negligent drivers are liable for the negligent conduct of their employees.

Nationwide, over 4,000 people were killed in semi-truck collisions in 2006, and the best way to avoid a collision with a semi-truck is to drive defensively and always remain visible. Make sure that you can always see the truck's side mirrors - and by doing so - the truck driver can see you.
